WANGANUI V. N.S.W. TEAM. WANGANUI. Jan. 10. The louring N.S.W. tennis team played the Wanganui cracks to-day, play lasting all day, and some fine ten- | nis being seen. The visitors lost oidy one game. The weather was fine, but hot. The .wicket, which was flooded by the week-' end rain, quickly dried, but it was heavy, favouring the bowlers. Richardson, however, was out for runs, and he treated them with great freedom, while his partner. Mac Kay, played tor keeps, and took 66 minutes to compile his score of 17. Richardson had another let.oft when 153. Finally, he hit one from Mac- [ artney hard to cover point, O'Brien taking a good catch. (Received January 10 at 10.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, January 10. In the cricket match, New South Wales in the first innings made 198. Gwynne made 43, Macartney 43, Kippax 32, Hogg 20, and Morgan 28. In the bowling McKay took 4 for 32,
aud Grimmett 4 for 70. South Australia in the. second innings had lost none for twenty-five at the drawing of the stumps. When Macartney and Gwynne were partnered, both put on the wood. Macartney being brilliant, knocking fifteen off one over. His score was made in forty-two minutes and included four fours and one six.
Kippax assisted Gwynne to bring a hundred on the board in 75 minutes. Hogg and Morgan rattled up runs, but with the dismissal of the former at 160, the bowlers took charge, and mowed down the wickets in quick time. At one stage Mac Kay had 3 for 13 to his credit. ..
