The typhoid death rate in country districts was still far higher than it should be, in view of the good system of local government. Tho cancer death rate, had increased, having been 70,000 in 17 years, and it would be 70,000 for tho next 10 years. Regarding puerperal mortality compared with other countries, Australia takes twelfth place.
