WAIMATE HUNT RACES. WAIMATE, July 22. The Waimate Hunt Club’s Steeplechase meeting was favoured with fine weather, and the course was good, though holding. The totalisator handled £6601. against £4,422 last year, an increase accountable to the inclusion of an extra race this year (the Winter Trot). Results:— Studholme Hurdles.—3 Kapuna 1, 5 Radiac 2, 4 Uleaborg 3. Also started: 7 Kaikahu, 6 Happy Days, 1 Red Kriss, 2 Cartoon, 8 Paddy’s Hope, 9 Vice Regal. Won bv a length. Time 3.13 2-5.

Bluecliffs’ Hunters' Steeples—3 Message Boy 1, 9 Mataipuke 2, 6 Good Form 3. Also ran: 2 Lark Hall, 1 Galaxy, 7 Markby, 6 Auburn, 11 Peterline, 6 Peter Marion, 10 Faloosc, 9 Naughty Peter. Won by two lengths. Time 4.39 1-5.

Waimate Steeples— 2 King Abbey (O. Cullum) 1. 5 Uncle Bob 2, 1 Whipcord 3. Also ran: 3 General Advance and Cartoon bracketed; 5 Kipling, 6 Mandrake, King Abbey jumped out in front, being twenty lengths ahead at the back stretch, when he hit hard at the post and rails, his jockey recovering well. Uncle Bob challenged in the straight, but failed by a short head, Whipcord was third ten length away. Time 4.54 3-5. Waihao Hack Flat.—2 John Bradbury 1; 1 Fairy Herald 2, 10 Royal Reel 3. Also ran: 6 Taboo, 9 Ineurso, 3 Jarreticrre, 5 Sw’eet Melody, 8 Fairy Tidings, 7 Gay Raiment, 4 Tholomon, 11 Princess Mafelda. Two lengths; a neck between second and third. Time 1.21 2-5.

Trot.—2 Pretty Pointer 1. 1 Killinchy 2, 3 Hoon Hay 3. Also ran: 8 Adelai, 5 Medallion Jack, and Morven Lass bracketed, 12 Self Reliance, 10 poauville, 7 Starina, 6 Self Reliance, 10 and By Sonny bracketed, 1 Master Bell. 9 Dillinda, 4 Thogmorton. Won by two lengths. Time 3.44. Hunt Cup—l Mainspring (E. Mackie) 1, 6 Mataipuke 2, 3 Aurore 3. Also ran: 4 Galaxy, 2 Red Sol, 7 Good Form, 6 Grey Star. 8 By and By. A lead was early’established by Red Sol, with Mataipuke handy, Good Form and By and By falling after once round. At the straight Red Sol still led, with Mainspring improving, but the former fell at the last hurdle, Mainspring winning by a neck; Aurore ten lengths behind-. T’me 4.57 4-5.
