CORRESPONDENCE.
TAINUI’S GRATE. (To the 'Editorj\ Sir,; —I cannot but feel greatly shocked at the apparent shameful neglect and unseemly desecration of the grave of one of our Maori brethren who, in the past, has played such an important I part in the history of Westland, and 'to whom’'Christians, especially Anglicans, are so indebted. I feel it is a public scandal, and hallmark of Greymouth ’s general lack of high sentiment that such a thing should happen, [especially seeing that recently we have, been treated tb such interesting accounts in opr press of the founding of this town. It is surely time that we got busy and began to toe the lino with other towns of equal size and lesser importance, who are in every case miles ahead of us in many things that make for the happiness and healthy minds, and clean public-spir-ited citizenship.—l am, etc., L. K. COLLINS, Anglican Lay Minister, Cobden.
