HOVERING ALMOST STATIONARY. (Reed. July 21 at 7.40 p.m.) LONDON, July 20. A huge Handley-Page torpedo carrier, during trials, hovered almost sta tionary in the air, as a result of adjustable slotted wings which prevent the nose dropping when the engine is ( shut off. It is believed that by this means aeroplanes will be able to land on the decks of ordinary warships.
