Mr W. Beale, of Christchurch, is paying a holiday visit to Greymouth. Miss M. Nugent leaves by to-day’s express for 'Wellington. Mr Les. Rundle, in company with her daughter, leaves for Melbourne on Saturday to take up her Residence there. The Mayor of Wellington, Mr. C. B. Norwood, on medical advice, has gone to Sydney by the Aorangi on a holiday. Mr. T. E. Y. Seddon, M.P., is expected to attend the Greymouth Poultry Show this week-end. Mrs Riley, Herbert Street, is making a slow recovery from a serious illness from which she has been suffering during the past six weeks. Mr. F. Dacre, Judge of the Greymouth Poultry Show arrives this after noon. Residence of 86 years in New Plymouth is the record of Mrs Walter Bishop, who died yesterday aged 90 (says a Press telegram). She arrived from Dorsetshire in the ship Timandra in 1842. Her husband, who predeceased her arrived in New Plymouth in the Oriental in 1841. Sister K. Maloney, of the Grey River Hospital, left by the early morning train for Christchurch yesterday, to attend the funeral this afternoon of her sister Eileen, wife of Mr John Noonan, manager of the New Zealand Refrigerating co., Dunedin. Mr. J. Stevenson, Commissioner of Crown Lands, Blenheim, Mr. A. R. Edwards, farmer, Motueka and Mr. M. Carmichael, of the Valuation Department, Nelson, have been appointed a special revaluation committee under the Deteriorated Lands Act. The death has occurred at Poverty Bay of Mr Alexander Mcßae, a resident in the district of 36 years’ standing. The late Mr Mcßae, who reached the age of ninety-five years, arrived in New Zealand in 1863, landing at Lyttelton with only a pound in his pocket. He obtained a position as a bullock driver and later took up farming in the Amuri district. At the New Zealand Counties Conference, officers were elected as follows yesterday.—President, Mr. A.
