PRIVATE COMPANIES. SEEK THE LOT. . AUCKLAND, July 20. At the Manukau County Council meeting there was a lively discussion on a proposal to rescind a motion to place one-third of the County insurance with the State Office. A letter from tho South British Company stated that it had been informed that fifty per cent of the insurance would be given to that company, and fifty per cent to the N.Z. Insurance Company, in consideration of these companies having granted the Council a loan when the Council could not raise money elsewhere. The Chairman said that both companies had waited upon him and he had resented it. They should be well satis fied with two thirds of the Council's business.
