HOCKEY
MAWHERA BEAT RUNANGA. The hockey match, Mawhera v. Runanga yesterday, resulted in a win for Mawhera by Hie good margin of five goals to nil. For the winners, A. McKnight scored 2 goals, N. McGrath 1 goal, and L. Paine 2 goals. The ground was very muddy, and not conducive to good hockey. Mr. Rvan was an impartial referee. Quito a number of teams will l>e seen in action next Wednesday at the tournament, coming from as far north as Cronadun and as far south as Hokitika. Mawhera Club are now among the three semi-finalists for the Brookes Cup. Cronadun should be the winning Inangahua Club.
