CORRESPONDENCE.
SCHOOL JUBILEE.
(To the Editor). Sir, —In recent issues of the “Ar-i gus,” “Pioneer” and “Mr R. E. Wylde” do not agree with me as to the Good Templars Hall having been tne first State School in Greymouth. There ia no doubt about its having been the early school, because the writer went to it, but I will not say it was the. first. However, Mr Wylde mentions Mr Goulding, the headmaster. On looking up my certificate, 1 find Mr Goulding was headmaster in 1879, 1880, 1881, and 1882. Then fol lowed Mr Robert Thornton, Mr R. L. Clements and Mr A. Malcolm were two old-time teachers. M.r Clements was a very popular teacher, and was well liked. Mr Clements is, I believe, alive and well in sunny Australia Mr Mai colm is a resident of. Clutha, and now is a member of the Upper House, but from the dav Mr Goulding went away, till now, the writer never heard _any mor« of him. Perhaps some old time pupil could say what became of him. Is he in the land of the living? Hoping I am not encroaching on your space. • I a.m etc., A NATIVE.
