FIVE-A-SIDE TOURNEY. The five a side 1 tournament v, as played off at Blackball Domain under ideal condition®, a.nd before a fair crowd of spectators. The v irious games were evenlv eo-ntesred. Ihe winners of the tourney were Renanvi A. team, Blackball B. team being runners up. The first game of the first round was contested by Rewanui A. team and Creymouth A team, ai d resulted in a win for Itewaimi Lv two goals to one. The second game Blackball B versus Blackball I) finished with the B team leading by I—l'. Blackball A and Grey B laye-J off next, the Grey team running out winners by two goals to nd. Blackball C met Rewanui B tn the next game, which was closely contested, and when time was called there was no score, so extra tunc? had to be played, three minutes each way, the Blackball team coming out winners with one goal and one <truer to their credit.

The first game of the semi-final contested by Rewanui A ami Grev B, the Rewanui boys being just o bit too good for the Gray team .and winning by two goals to ml. Ihe two remaining Blackball teams had a sterling go to decide who were going to reach the final. There was no score after playing- ‘seven minutes each way, so three minutes each way had to be played, each of the teams registering one goal, and a further six minutes had to be played, the B team being on top with one goal and one corner to their credit, with the C team nil.

The B's had ten minutes spell be fore engaging; in the final, but the youunger team from Rewanui held the upper hand and finished a most enjoyable afternoon’s sport with a two goal victory.

The winning team comprised the following players:—Campbell, Gore, Pattinaon, Page and Ford. The winners and runners up of the competition, will be presented with their medals at the annual presentation of trop hies. ASSOCIATION MEETING. The usual fortnightly meeting oi the Westland Football Association was held in the old Band Room on Saturday Bth. Mr. Airey (President) occupied the chair. Delegates, from the various clubs wer e present, also Bros. Leonard and Harold and Mr Shaw representing the Schools. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed and outward correspondence approved of. The inward correspondence was duly dealt with, and included a letter from the Canterbury JA A. staking what terms they are prepared to concede towards the proposed rep team’s visit. This matter has been referred to tne Clubs for consideration and will be decided upon at the next centre meeting. Advice wais received from the New Zealand Council, stating that they are making the North v South match an annual fixture, and at the same time asking for nomination of players worthy of reprejenting the different islands. It was left for the clubs to nominate to the Centre any of their players desirous of representing the Coast. The unfinished game Grey v. Brun ner came up for discussion, and after hearing Mr. Mossop’s report of the unfortunate incident, he being referee, it was deoided upon that the of fending Rewanui club be censured, and that they guard against any repetition of such conduct, both with players and supporters. A claim fo" both points by the Grei Club for the above game was discu. sed at length and has been referred to the N’etv Zealand Council for a ruling, thia referee’s report of the game to be sent to headquarters

Bro. Leonard reported progress in connectio# with the rep. teams’ visit to Christchurch. Included in the report was a statement that tile .-urn of fifteen pounds had been renin ed from the picture entertainment so kindly; donated by Mr. Beban. This donation will practically lefray travelling expenses for the two minis between here and Christchurch, and the Westland Association are grateful to Mr- Beban for the handsome gift. Bro. Leonard appealed to the sen ior clubs for a donation so that the b»ys could have a real good time, and promises were made. Mr. Shaw was appointed Munagti of the rep teams and Brother Tarcissius, Assistant Manager. The boys leave at an early d.ite and have the best wishes of all interest in sport.
