WESTPORT NOTES

(Our own Correspondent). Miss Holly Sloan, who was twentyfive years of age, passed away in Christchurch on Thursday. The late Miss Sloan was a cousin of Mr J. M<I’adden, of this town. Miss D. McKay left Westport on Saturday for Wellington for Fieet week.

Of the ladies, Mrs Champion got first and Mrs Fox second, while the forty-fives was won by Mr Williams. A very interesting debate took place at th e club room cn Friday night, the subject under debate being “That Too Much Time is Devoted to Sport,” Both sides put up solid arguments, and finally the ve - diet was given for the affirmative.

The old students of the Technical School held a successful social tad dance ii St. John's school room on Friday night.
