On Saturday at the cricket, ground, ten thousand people saw the New Zealand League team defeated by Queens land by 29 points to 20. The visitors showed improved form, but the speed of the Queensland wingers won the day. The . visiting forwards gave a fine exhibition. Queensland kicked off in dull weather. The home team scored eight minutes from the stiirt, when McBrien broke through in the home 25., and ran to the other end. The New Zealanders had been having the best of the play, and continued to do so, but through their losing the ball in the scrums, th© speed of the home backs resulted in two further Queensland tries being scored.

New Zealand opened their scoring account, following on a prolonged pressure by them, when Gorman mull ed the ball, and Brisbane got across. A few minutes before half-time, New Zealand took control of ttie game. Finally Saunders (New Zealand half) beat th e Queensland fullback and scored brilliantly. Thus encouraged, the All Black for wards pressed hard, and they caused Queensland to save. In th© last twenty minutes of the first spell, the New Zealanders scored twelve points, and Queensland none at all. At half-time the scores were: — NEW ZEALAND 15 QUEENSLAND 13 Early in the second half, the Queens landers notched a try. Then, however the New Zealanders attacked ■brilliantly, obtaining a try and a goal, which put New Zealand again ; in the lead. Then some dazzling play by the - Queensland wingers raised the crowd j to a high pitch of excitement. Ayns- , ley gave a wonderful exhibition, scori ing three tries in succession.
