teachers object. to COMPULSORY DEMONSTRATIONS . SYDNEY, August 3. \ largely attended meeting of the Council of the Public School Teachers’ Federation unanimously resolved to o ,k the Minister of Education to abolish the specified compulsory demonstrations of loyalty in schools. The demoastrntions referred to were those held on Monday mornings, when pupils are required to recite: “I honour my God. I serve my King, I salute mv flag. ” The’ motion asked that permission hf allowed to return to the old systent of inculcating love of country a.id lovalty along unstereotyped lines, ft W : IS pointed out that the loyalty ot the schools was unquestioned. The formula as repeated at some schools was a mere jumble of sounds. Mr Bruntnell (exMinister of Education) considers the resolution is not an expression of the views of the vast majority of teachers. He challenges the Federation to take a vote of the whole service on the question.
