ENGLISH COUNTY RESULTS
LONDON, July 25.
Hampshire in the first innings made 224 (Haig taking 5 for 42) against Middlesex, whose first innings realised 196 for 6 wickets (Hendren 59, Mann not out 57). The match was drawn.
Playing Sussex, Surrey in the first innings made 343 (Ducat making 91, Howell 57, and Fender 60). In their first innings Sussex scored 189 (Naumann making 68, and Fender taking 5 for 45.) In the second innings Sussex made 151. (Gilligan making 60 not out, and Peach taking 5 for 45). Surrey won by an innings and three runs.
Playing for Yorkshire against Northants, Oldroyd made 109, while MacAulay took 6 for 19 and Kilner 4 for 21. Yorkshire won.
For Sometset, against Worcester, White took 5 for 63, and for Worcester Root took 8 for 56 in the first innings, and 3 for 4 in the second. The match was drawn.
For Essex, against Kent, Nicholls took 3 for 14, Douglas 2 for 6, and Eastman 3 for 5. The match was drawn.
For Lancashire, against Glamorgan, Barnes made 103, and McDonald took 7 for 90. Lancashire won.
For Gloucester, against Derby, Parker took 5 for 19 in the first innings, and 6fror 61 in second. Bennet 3 for 15. Gloucester won.
A thunderstorm generally interfered with play.
