CANTERBURY GAMES. (Special to the Argus.) CHRISTCHURCH, July 25. At Soccer today, the results were:— Sunneyside 2 beat Western 0. Nomads 5 beat Rangers 1. FINAL TEST. ENGLAND WIN BY 2 to 0. (Received July 26 at 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, July 26. In the soccer match England defeated Australia by two goals to nil. The attendance totalled eight thousand, and the gate receipts were £370. The weather was perfect. England had slightly the better of the exchanges. Early in the first half. Batten had a shot from a penalty, but it went vide. England were hard pressed. but on such occasions they showed they were not afraid to pass back, to a man who was unmarked.

Charlton opened the score by goaling from a penalty against Australia. The Australian defence saved the situation repeatedly, Robinson, the goalkeeper, being in excellent form. A third penalty shot, given against Mitchell for upsetting Elkes when ho was well placed, was sent over the bar by Graham.

Elkes had the spectators spellbound with his wonderful individual play. The half time score was I—o.

The second goal for England came shortly after the i.iterval, when Batten scored, the greasy ball slipping through Robinson’s hands. The best players for England were Charlton, Graham, Elkes, Batten and Simms, and for Australia the best were Robinson, Mitchell, Aiken, Edwards, Eccles, and Masters.

England has won all five tests, in which the total goals were: England 22; Australia 4. The best scorers were: Batten 10; and Simms 8.

In the championship, Y.M.C.A. 4 beat Hospital 0. Scottish Wanderers 1 drew with Institute 1. tn the Senior B Victory Cup semifinal, Brooklyn 8 beat Welgasco 0; Y.M.C.A. C 6 beat Y.M.C.A. B 4. In the championship, Swifts 3 beat Johnsonville 2.
