The foundation work is almost completed and preparations are being made to commence the main building. The Blackwater Sawmilling Gov’s mill at the Three Mile on the Greenstone road has lately come under new management, Mr T.' Baxter being in charge. complimentary dinner xvas tendermi by Air Wood, proprietor of the Theatre Royal Hotel, to boarders and friends on the occasion of his birthday and also that of a boarder. Speeches and toasts appropriate to the occasion, were given various speak ers, and several musical items were rendered. Excellent music was sup. plied by Air and Mrs Afrlvor, the late proprietors of this welLknoxxn hostelry. Air Alichael Fitzgerald, of the P. and T. Department, Napier, is spending his annual holiday in Kumara. It is reported that some very novel fancy dresses will be seen at the Football Club’s annual ball on July 10th. The Club’s officials have ar. rangements well in hand, while the members of the team are quite eager that it shall be the bail of theseason. Air Roxburgh, local postmaster, has resumed duties after his holiday vacation, during which time Air Ashley was relieving officer, and was a most courteous and obliging official. It is many years since a real good picture was screened in Kumara, but next Tuesdav, Beban’s Pictures xvill show' “The Hunchback of Notre Dame,” which lias the reputation of being something extra special. It is hoped that the management will he rewarded with a bumper house in ‘bringing such an expensive picture to Kumara, and that patrons ol the movies w’ill roll up in force so that Air Beban -will have sufficient inducement to show some more of the high quality films -which come to Greymouth from time to time.
