Mr Nelson Scott who had the in fortune to have his hand injured some sixteen, months ago ait Humphries, had it amputated at the Wcstlanu Hospital yesterday, and it is reported he is progressing favourable. After a short illness, the death oc. i curved yesterdav morning of Air Jonah ! Vergusson, a resident of Greymoirth forever fifty years, at the age of 73. He was a native of Norfolk < England). At one time deceased was m the emplov of the old Grey mouth Gas Company,‘and by the late E. W ickes and T. W. Wilson, timber mcieliants. The late Mr Vergusson was also a keen horticulturist, and was for xe.us im. p.oved as gardener by the late Mr Felix Campbell and by Mrs Rae. He is survived bv a widow an.l two daughters (Mesdames Oram and Trane) of Blenheim, and one son (Mr W. Vergusson) of Blenheim. The Druidic service will be read at the funeral to-morrow, deceased being one of the oldest.
