ENJOYABLE SUBSCRIPTION CONCERT. Notwithstanding the inclement wea tlier and coipater attractions, a large number of people attended the Town i Hall last night, when the Greymouth Municipal Band gave the final of its I enjoyable honorary members ’ concert fur the season. 'Die programme was erous number of band items vocal and crons number of band items and other well selected (>*ne for, besides a- gen other offerings were interspersed. Al fords Humoresque ‘A Musical Switch was one of the most enjoyable band numbers of the evcni'iig. Appropriately named the number is ;. medley of well known a :r>—classic and otherwise—arranged b\ Mr Alford the famous march composer. !’h e Band's treatment of it, was masterly in style and was rewarded with a round of applause. The wcllk'.iown Barcarolle from “The Tales of i I aTinan ’' also found considerable favour with Ihe audience, as did Rimmer's popular march ‘Ravenswood,’’ which is a favourite with New Zealand and Australian Bands. Most interest, however, centred in the contest select ii.'ii; ‘‘Der Wildhutz” ( Lortzing) . This was beautifully executed, the opening | ensemble being part mula rly line. Then | followed -a cornet solo, which in turn gave pace to the trombo’iie. A quartette t'adenz.a lead I" an allegro, the sopranos Cadenza finishing the move meat. Follow, then, cornet and trombone and as the plan is gradually unfolded. a brilliant ending is effected by an allegro vivace. Fantastic ami beautiful right htrough was the nu-m--ber, and was loudly applauded. Pet tee's march “Nakokus” concluded the i’.-'.'.id’s portion of tlm entertainment. Other items on the programme in eluded a step dance by Miss McMinn, :i musical monologue “The British Legion,” by Miss O'lla llaha’ii, and a vocal solo by Mr D. Douglas. All , were clamorously reealed. ,\n apology was received from Mr T. Hogan, who was <lown on the programme for a vocal number, but was unable to apIt is worthv of numtion that the solo trombone piavi'i- in the Band item was a boy of fourteen years of age wjiile the sob: c.ornetist is only sevc’nteen . Their performances were voted one and all highly creditable. Altogether the enterlainment was one of the most enjoyable yet submitted by the Muniieipal BamL
