| EUROPEAN FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIP. SCENE APTER DECISION. (Reuter). LONDON, June 22. The boxing contest of t wenty rounds for the British and European lightweight championship, resulted in Harry Mason (European champion) beating Ernie Izzard (British champion) in the ninth round. LATER. It is understood that, although fz_ zard was obviously beaten, the referee awarded the fight to Mason on the grounds that Izzard’s seconds remained in the ring after the gong.
