The story ha> <*eji rloselv followed. and ri«-h *' ' ramali'- incident and heart intere<:. lends itself admirably to the art of no moving picture prodm-er. In this use, the most has been made of ,s Quasimodo, the hunchback, Mr Lon haney presents a character study lha! i wonderful in its portrayal. He lakes Hugo’s awful creation, the re ulsivc more animal chan man being, ctuallv live on the .silver sheet. Quasiiodo is a type of character that, in he hands of anvone but the most in- ' . a piled actor, could be easily overdone. n Mr Chaney’s experienced hands, tin* haracter is presented to a nicety. So { arefully studied lias been Mr Chaney’s . nterpretation, that th ( . onlooker, for 1 he nonce, is inclined to believe the () haracter one of tin* actor’s own ini- j gination. The rest of the story was x n the hands of a very capable cast. o h ( . result being an admirable picture hat is sure to attract crowded houses [ Suring its four nights’ season here. f | A word of praise is also due to the o pecially augmented orchestra, which j bayed appropriate music throughout I he screening. The addition of an <■ irgan accompaniment lent much on < oyment to tin* musical portion of the ■vening’s entertainment. Th.j «. ‘Hunchback ’ will be screened again l o-night and to-morrow night . ;
