FARMERS’ INTERESTS

WELLINGTON, May 28.

At the Royal Agricultural Society’s Conference, a tribute was paid to the work of the Cawthron Institute. Dr Reakes said experiments were in pro. gress of a Dominion wide value in the shape of a soil reconnaisance. A remit was adopted urging the Go. vernment to give greater encourage, ment to Agricultural Education. It was stated there would be over two hundred farmers at the Hawkes Bay Farm School next month.

During a discussion on train services to shows, the Railway Department’s representatives stated the Tunning of night trains was under consideration in order to get a bigger turnover and to facilitate transport.
