I Mr M. Johnston, an employee of Messrs Faulkincr Bros, sawmill, at Kaiata, met with a painful accident yesterday morning. He was employed in tailing out, when a fellow employee inadvertently dropped an axe, which struck Mr Johnston’s left foot, cutting the instep so badly that Dr Mc_ Brcarty found it necessary to inse-t a number of stitches. He is now progressing favourably. Mr. Alex Gamble*, a» resident of the West Coast for sixty years, the last, fourteen of which have been spent. ,n Reefton, died at the Reef ton Hospit <1 on Wednesday.
