Koodoo, a winner nt Hastings on Saturday, has had a strenuous season’s racing, but has stood up to it well, and his record for 1924-25 is eight wins, lour seconds and five thirds. Koodoo is a brother to Koesinn and Elens. His trainer, IT. S. Greene, has had a particularly good season, and with Koodoo’s latest success, has turned out 19 •winners. Right and Left has repaid his owner for his perseverance this season, and the two stakes won at W’hangarei, together 'with victories in the Dargaville and Tauranga Cups, would more than
pay the oat hill. Right and Left is now rising eight, but he beat one r or two fair horses on Saturday, and should win a few more races before his term of usefulness comes to an end. Little Owl, dam of Peho, winner of the Glasnevin Hack Handicap at Amberley, was a sister to that good horse Night watch ami to Wisebird, and Brown Owl. A line like this allied to that of IVinkie would be looked for to supply something that would go a distance,' and by the way that Reho finished on Saturday, there certainly seems a prospect that the promise will be fulfilled. The jumper Black Art has evidently fullv recovered from th- serious accident met with at the last Winter fixture at Ellerslie, and by winning nt Hastings on Saturday, was not long in making a return to his new owner. Mi D. Donovan. At the conclusion of the recon i -r-i i Pirk Avalanche wont • nl o. at Forbury ar into J. McLennan s stable and Marvin Drift joined ■ stri ng nt Addington. Both horsey ue owned l>y the Dunedin spoitsm. . - T M. Samson. - ’ ■ vow easy Avin m Prosperity had a perfoTn ,anc. ! the Amberley Cup ' for being another good . a -West Coast form. He "a early two-year-old, who sn«en went Off, showing a strong dislike i racing but he appears to be racing Xe now, and further sum eesgcs may be looked for m better
is racing exceptionally W nll nt present. Tie is in his uintn year, but ho seems ns good as ever, and he put up an attractive per orm anee when he finished second in Amberley Cup on Saturday. The West Coast mare, Some Abbey, started twice at Amberlev on Saturday, showing plenty of speed each time, but she lacks stamina. Tarleton put up a good performance in the Amberley 'Cup. but the big weight anchored him over the las furlong. Royal Star failed to show up in the Amberlev Cep. ITe was toiling hopelessly in the rear going along the back and his prospects do not look at a.l bright for flat racing. The Cheat was running on at the end of the Amberley Cup, and he may soon be among the winners. The following penalties have been m curred for the North Canterbury Rae ing Club’s meeting next Saturday: Oxford High Weight Handicap, Goldspinner 51W, Kilbirnae 5 1b.,; North Canterbury Handicap, Prosperity 10 lb, Kilbirnie 10 lb. The two-year-old Forgery created a very favourable impression by the style in which he won the Novice Stakes at Amberley. He did not make his appearance near the leaders till well into the straight, but he finished up with a brilliant rim over the last furlong. He is only a little fellow, but he comes from a family of small horses and he looks like being above the average next season.
