RUNANGA NOTES
(Our Own Correspondent.) Runanga Co-operative Society; Ltd. A meeting of the members of the jßunanga Co-operative Society, Ltd., was held on Wednesday evening last. Mr George Miller, President of the Society, presided over a .fair attendance of members. The report and balance sheet for the period ending March 14th was adopted as satisfactory. The Iplectipn (resulted aV lows:— Vice-President: Mr .Tosepli Devine; Committee: Messrs I. Tyson, W. Kennedy and W. Lemon; Trustee: Mr Frank Wylde. The duty on bran and pollard from Australia are to he reduced from £2 f.o.b. south. On Thursday afternoon, the pupils and staff of the Runanga State School gathered together to bid farewell to Miss R. Orr, our popular teacher, who is leaving Runanga to take up her residence in Christchurch. A large number of parents were also present. Mr J. F. Pattinson, Chairman'of the School Committee, presided. The Chair man in his remarks alluded to.the good work performed by our departing teacher, especially in regard to her work in organising concerts, and stated her place would be hard to fill. Mr PatStinson called /upon Mr JM. Malone, head teacher, to make the presentation \vhich consisted of a leather suitcase with a cheque enclosed. Miss Orr feelingly responded. A number of items were contributed by the pupils. The proceedings wore brought to a close by the singing of “Auld Lang Syne” by those present.
