COBDEN DOMAIN BOARD

ANSWER TO DEPUTATION. Air J. O’Brien, ALP., through the Minister of Education, has received the following reply to the deputation which waited on him from the Cobden citizens re the Domain Board:—• “I have to advise that a subsidy of £5O was made in 1911 and a further one of £5O in 1920 for improvements to this Domain, and it is not proposed to provide any further financial assistance at the present time. AVith regard to your suggestion that the Domain Board should try and link up with the local body, I have to state that the question as to whether the Domain should be controlled by the Town Board, or by a Domain Board of residents was fully considered nt a public meeting held in Cobden on May 23rd, 1924, when it was decided that Control should remain in the hands of a Board of residents. The Town Board, however, could, if it so desired, assist the Board financially by wav of a subsidy under the provisions of Section 364 of the Land Act, 19-4.
