Following an argument in the vestibule of the Assembly, regarding a bill \\ ii<h Mi Butterfield, Commissioner <>f Land;, is sponsoring, Mr ButterHeld Struck Mr Moseley, tho oldest member of ihe House a blow in the face, blackening- his eye. When the incident was discussed in the Assembly, Mr Butterfield, apologising, stated that ' serious reflections were oast upon him. When Members began to talk of penalties, the Speaker, who was tho only witness of the assault, said that ho would take the matter entirely into his own hands and announce his decision later. LATER. On the resumption of the Assembly, tho Speaker expressed severe disapproval of the conduct of the Minister, which ho said was disorderly. Ho placed on record a sevete censure for the Minister’s unwarranted action, but accepted as a closure to the incident the expressions of regret and the apology, tendered to him.
