CAULFIELD RACES. EURYTHMIC WINS STAKES. SOORAK ANNEXES GUINEAS. [A. and N.Z. Cable Association.] (Rec. October 15, at 5.5 p.m.) MELBOURNE, October 15. Yesterday there was fine, bright weather and a big attendance for the opening of the V.A.T. Club ’s Spring Meeting. The going was good. There was some delay at the barrier in the Debutant Stakes. King Carnival, carrying 101 b penalty, led from below the distance and won brilliantly. He cost 650 guineas as a yearling. The favourite was Lady Reynard. She took the turn wide. 11. Cairns rode the winner. Enrythmic was the popular favourite in the Caulfield Stakes. Violoncello led in this race to the straight. Enrythmic was sixth in the early stages but got up to third at the turn. lie came out from inside the distance, and won decisively, amidst great cheering, from his stable mate Tangalooma. These horses have first and second in this race for the last three years. Enrythmic has now won £35,166 in stakes. His time is a record for the race, but it is three-quarters of a second outside Desert Gold’s course record. In the Guineas (1 mile), Soorak always was well up, and he won brilliantly. His time equals the race record. The first four furlongs took 51Asocs and the last four 484 secs. The last six furlongs took 1.144. It was an outsider, Tho Tyrant, who won the Toorak Handicap, and he did so in great style. The favourite was Fleuriste, who ran ninth.
