SEAMEN STRIKE.

ON WAITEMATA IN U.S.A. NEW YORK, July 22. The Australian steamer Waitemata, has been towed into Victoria, from Anacortes, where 31 of the crew deserted, being in sympathy with the Striking longshoremen there. I hey claim the right under the United States law permitting sailors to quit at any port, to leave the ship. They are being held, however, for deportation probably' to Canada. The reason is that the Australian and New Zealand immigration quota ot the United States is now full.
