SUPREME COURT.
A STOLEN MOTOR CAR. (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, June 7. At the Supreme Court Albert Cundy, who stole a motor car, which he sob! and who claimed to have won th? D.C.M.., .appeared again before Mr Justice Adams, the case having been adjourned for inquiries at Wellington as to whether there was any record in the navy list regarding a medal awarded to Cundy. Today, the Crown Prosecutor said that a search had failed to find the name, and the Naval Secretary had stated that alterations h: d apparently been made on Cundy.’s discharge. His Honour said that he bad an ini pression the discharge did not belong to Cundy. Prisoner was sentenced to 12 months’ hard labour, his Honour remarking that the sentence would have been heavier but for the appe: 1 for leniency made by the owner of the motor car. At the Crown Prosecutor’s request, the discharge was impounded in order that the police could make further inquries. William Withers who forged an engineer’s certificate 20 years ago, was admitted Jo probation for 12 months. NAPIER, June 7.
