A level crossing smash occurred nt Studhohno Junction when the northbound express struck Mr 11. Ilorler’s (Carrier) motor, of Waimate, smashing it to matchwood, and carrying it soma yards up the liue. The passengers on the train heard the crash of the impact. Mr Horley was thrown on to a patch of grass but was apparently injured. He evidently saw the train too late and endeavoured to race to safety.
