IMPROVEMENT IN EXPORTS. | A. and N. Z. Cabin A«n?inti<y I } (Received May 19. 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, May 18. Bridgeman, in presenting the Alines Estimates in the House of Commons, said the outlook for the metalliferous mines was most gloomy, but that for tho coal mines was most hopeful. Tho coal exports from Britain to every country, outside Europe, during the first quarter of 1922 exceeded the 1913 figures. Exports to Western Europe were only 6 per cent, below 1913. Fewer men were now employed, but the output per capita was much higher, despite the seven-hour day. The industry was i-'-.dy to take advantage of any general trade recovery.
