THE REDUCTIONS PROPOSED. LONDON, May 1The Budget discontinues debt redemption. The surplus of £40,000,000 will be devoted to reducing taxation. A shilling will be taken off income tax, the basis of farmers ’ assessment will be halved, fourpenco per pound will be taken off tea and a half-penny off postages.
