INANGAHUA HOSPITAL BOARD.
(Our Own Correspondent.) I The monthly meeting of the above - board was held at the Council Chambers, Reefton on Thursd-'y evening. Present: Messrs W. Irving, G. Mclnroe, T. Watson, I. Paine, D. McVicar, J. O’Regan and Mark Fagan. MR FAGAN ELECTED CHAIRMAN. The first business dealt with was the election of chairman of the board for the ensuing two years. Mr Paine moved that Mr M. Fagan be appointed. This was seconded by Mr McVicar. Mr O’Regan, moved, as an amendment, that Mr W. Irving be re-appointed. Seconded by Mr Mclnroe. A division was called for, and resulted in Mr Fagan being elected chai:- ' man. CORRESPONDENCE. From the Inangahua County Council, stating that, in the County Engineer’s opinion, sufficient water would not bo i available to enable the board to drive a dynamo for lighting purposes at Reef ton ITospital.—Received. From Electric Light and Power Com-' i pany re price of lighting. —Resolved that the board adhere to the meter mea- j sureinent, and that the matron be asked i to economise with lights wherever pos- • sible. From North Canterbury Board, urging: that the Government be asked to ap- i point a commission to inquire into the I prevalence of venereal disease. —Received. From Dr Valentine, Director-General of Hospitals, asking that the board reconsider its decision not to raise the hospital fees to patients.—Resolved, that the board adhere to the existing | charges. From John Collins, Waiuta, forward- I ing an order from W. Brough, contraetor at Waiuta. —Received. From Thos. Thorne, Waiuta, forwarding £4 9/- contributions. —The board decided to accept the offer of Mr F. Wilcox to sell a sewing machine for use at Waiuta Cottage Hospital, on condition that a trial be given, and the machine approved. Resolved that tenders be called for stumping, and ploughing or grubbing j section at Waiuta Hospital, tenders to close at next meeting of the board. The estimates of expenditure for the incoming year were considered and approved. It was decided that tenders be called for supplies to Reef.ton Hospital, exclusive of meat (tenders to close at next meeting), and that deposits accompany each tender as follows: Stores £lO, coal £5, milk £5, wines and spirits £5.
