AT THE CAPE. (Received May 2 at 5.5 p.m.) CAPETOWN, May 1. In the Cape Provincial Council, the Administrator announced that owing to a ,deficit, due to a reduction in the Union Government’s subsidy, and other causes, he proposed to levy a provincial income tax on all incomes above £l2O. He proposed to put a tax of £2/10 on motor cars. The amusement tax would be doubled. License fees would be increased. The income tax proceeds would be appropriated for education purposes.
