LIES ABOUT RUSSIA.
Nine out of ten of the editorials about Russia that have appeared in the capitalist press have been based upon false and silly reports. Yet the arguments made in those editorials persist, after the reports upon which they were based have been proved false. It is not too much to say that the pic-
ture of (Soviet Russia which exists in the minds of thousands of people has been built up, piece by piece, out of lying rumours and hastily written editorials based upon rumours. It is reported, let us say, that Lenin has stolen the moon. The capitalist press hastens to editorialise that this report, if true, proves that Lenin is the greatest thief who ever lived. The reservations as to the reliability of the report passes unnoticed, and that the public that reads the editorial therafter persistently regards Lenin as a colossal cosmic crook.— 11 Appeal to Reason. ’ ’
