TAUMABUNUT. December 15. The Taumariinui Races wore held today in wet weather and in the pres>ncc of a fair attendance. The trade .vas heavy. The tote handled £.12,497 10s. as against ££13,811 last <y ear. Results: — ■ Novice Handicap. — Infante 1, Leith'leld 2, Miss Melva 3. Also started: hypothesis Chintz, Kuranui, Harrington, Master Rohau, Lucy French, Paulieian, Miss Rangi, Fairmount. From a fair start, Infante took a strong 'end along the back of the course, and \as never overtaken. Won by two engths. Time 1.9 2-5. Taringamotu Handicap. — Elsie Aroia 1, Canowindra 2, Penona 3. Also 'tarted : .Shell Shock. Pukeranrniara, Valley Queen, Glenvul. Glenval and 'anowindra led to the straight, where ■Clsie Arolia came away and won by i Jiose. Time 1.16 3-5. A protest by the owner of Cano- , win.dra against Elsie Aroha was lodgv cd. for the latter apeparing in the book as trained by the owner, whoreis it was trained by T. Morriss. The Hulicial Committee imposed a fine of £20 on Carroll for a breach •of the rules. Meanwhile, the totalisator had oaiil out the dividends, but the stake money was withheld. Taumariinui Cup. — Independence 1. Lovolight 2, Lady Energy 3. Also started: Corrcgidor, Winsome Arch Boomaday. The latter led to the judge's box for the iirst time Toflnd, Lady Energj' being well behind. Approaching the straight,, Lovelight ran into iirst position, followed- by Boomaday and Lady Energy. In the straight Independence came away and took the lead from Lovelight, winning by half % length, with the same distance separating second and third. Lady Energy made a great effort in the straight. Time 2.12 3-5. Matapuna Handicap. — Passionless 3. Ivnighton 2, Lady Glissas 3. Also ■ started: Falwin, Wanigan, Ellie, Colonel Abbey, Princess Renown, Lucy French, Glenval, Lady Lilac, Delysian, Neuritis, Kuranui. Ellic and Falwin lead to the straight, where Passionless and Knighton came through. Won by throe-quarters of a length; half a length between second and third. Time 1.5. Manunui Hurdles. — Lombardy 1, Shell Shock 2, Wangawa 3. started: Keystone, Stilts, Kanthoe, Grand Canyon, Harrington, Scrutineer. Shell Shock and Grand Canyon led the field, but at the hurdle in %ont of the grandstand Stilts fell and Keystone came to grief on the corner. Lombardy moved up to Shell .Shock, aud both jumped the last flight together. Won by one an si a half lengths; three lengths between second \u\(\ third. Time 3.3. Matieri Handicap. — Canowindra 1, Wanigan 2, Thora 3. Also started: Penona, Hypothesis. Canowindra and Wanigan led Thora round the 'back of the course, with Hypothesis well back from the bunch. Half-way Tound Thora fell back and left the race to Canowindra and Wanigan. Won by half a length; two lengths between second and third. Time 1.19 3-5. Rangaroa Handicap. — Escaped 1, Dribble, Independence 3. Also started: Jollie Princess. A good race. Won by three-quarters of a length; half a length between second and third. Owhango Handicap. — Silver Code 1, Aircraft 2, Over There 3. Also started: Silver Pine. Won by one length, with three lengths behveen second and third. The times for the last two races were not telegraphed.
