In the early part of the day tho sky was overcast, and after .the fifth race a light rain set in. The totalisator receipts were £67,836 10, against £56,154 for the corresponding day last year. The latter was challenged by First Saluto at the head of the straight and the latter, securing the lead, won in good style by a length \ and a half from Uncle Ned, who beat j Cleft by a length.
