The Now Zealand Sculling Championship was rowed on the Wairau j River this afternoon, between W Fogwell (holder) aud P Hannan (cnallenger) There was a threfe knot current and a strong headwind against the rowers. Hannan won t#e toss and chose the inside position. From a splendid start Hannan drew way immediately, and soon obtained a two lengths lead. This order obtained till the first bend was reached, when rough water was met with. Both men were rowing with a god swinging stroke.
