Mr. Powley has also received a. telegram from Sir Joseph Ward regretting to learn that his son was severely wounded and washing him a speedy recovery. i Mrs Arnold, Three-Channel Flat, has received the sad news that her son Leslie. was' killed in action in France. This young soldier enlisted with the, early reinforcements and returned home wounded and later again enlisted. Mrs Walsh, Dick Street, Beef ton, has received word that her sin Eugene has beon wounded in France. Mrs. Con Crowley, Church Street, Beef ton has received word from the Defence Department ■' that her son, Jack has been paralysed' -in one arm. Cr. Betts, member for Crushington Biding, announced definitely, at the.. last meeting of t the Inangahua County' I Council that he was not going to seek' re-election. He finds tjat he is unable to devote the time to county matters.
