' REEFTON RACES. FIRST DAY'S RESULTS. CUP AVON BY MARTIAL AfR. The first day's races of the Re^fton Jockey Club's Midsummer Meeting was held yesterday afternoon jn fine weather. This pair fought out a desperate finish, Brady's mount prevailing by the smallest of margins. Winning number, was two lengths further away. Chudic was responsible for delaying trie start somewhat, twice breaking through the tapes. When the barrier was released Chudic and Eron Boy went to the front from Epwprth and Martial Air. On reaching the entrance to the straight Chudic faltered md fell back, while Martial Air put in a late run. However she could not pass Eron Boy, who won by a length. Time, im 16s. _ ro ._^w www, MIDLAND WELTER HANDICAP, 75 soys, Seven Furlongs.Amity (S.to), Brady : 1 Aaland./S.ii), Griffen 2 Teannot (10.3), Barr ... 3 Also started: Hap Dha (8.13) md Improve (8.3). From an even start Jeannot went to the front, followed by Aaland and Amity. This was the order until the straight was reached, when Amity, well handled by Brady, forged to the front and wpn a good face by a length. Jeannot was a similar distance away third..
