*e»~. SELF-DENIAL RETURNS. DOMINION INCREASE OF £8075. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, October 30. The results of the Salvation Army self-denial effort in Now Zealand was announced to-night. The divisional totals, with increase on last year follow, with : hillings and penetf omitted: Total, 1916 Increase Wellington £2945 £1508 Dunedin £403S £«08 Christchurch .... £4651 £786 Auckland £6050 £1721 Central (North) - £12,865 £4SOO The Dominion total is £30,550, an increase of £8075. Inf announcing the results to-night. Commissioner Hoder declared that New Zealand led the world in responding to thos Army's appeal, while Gisbomo maintained the position it already occupied with the highest total ■ of any town; in the world. Hawke's Bay, Wairarapa, Taranaki, Manawatu were also remarkably generous in the collections. Gisborno's total was £2900, an in. create of £600. Hastingg was £1520, an increase of £1094. A cable has been- received from General Booth to-night congratulating NeV Zealand.
