Professor Davis., of Harvard University, who was one of the distinguished American .scientists to visit New Zealand recently, at the invitation of the Government 1, has returned the grant of £75 which he received toward his ex> penses He asked that money be used by Mr. Cotton, lecturer on geology at Vie. toria College, to defray the expenses of his study of a block of mountains and the coasts of New Zealand.
