The following judges have been appointed for the Greymouth Competitions Festival, Avhich takes place jkhis year from September Gth to 13th: — Eev. W. S. Gray (Dunedin), oratory and debating; Messrs "W. Faquhar Young (Christchurch), elocuation; Sydney Williamson (Christchurch) vocal music; E. | Empsom (Christchurch) instrumental music. On Friday evening last the members of Trinity Choir entertained Mrs. Bcvin at the residence of Mrs. Stafi'air and presented her with a very dainty salad bc»Avl and service. During the evening a song title competition Avas held, which Avas Avon by Miss G. White. After a very enjoyable supper, supplied by the lady members of the choir, had been pai'taken of, Rev. J. A. Rogers made the presentation to the guest of the evening. He spoke very highly of Mrs. Bevin's chufcih work generally and that in conection Avith the choir in particular. Mr. "Mabin responded for Mrs. Bevin, after which Mr, Staffan expressed his regret as conductor upon losing such a good and regular member as Mrs. Bevin had been. During the evening several members gave songs, violin and piano solos and after the singing of ' 'Auld Lang Syne" and.,the National Anthem a most delightful evening was concluded.
