SOIREE MUSICALE
. Mrs. J. Hales entertained her music pupils last evening prior to the breaking up for mid-winter vacation. There was a large attendance and a very happy time was spent with music and games. .
The following contributed vocal, instrumental and orchestral items: — . Misses Broad (2), Baxter (2), Johnstone, Mcßride, Green, Allen, T. Russell, C. Keller, Stubbs, Feary, Gillinghain, Quinn, Clarke, Williams, Sears, Rose, Tew, Tennent, Robertson, Howland, Weenink, Flintoff, Nash, Muncaster, Ayers, Young, Smith, Ritson; Messrs Tennent, McPherson, Baxter, Dumphy,, Fitzgerald, Bellamy, and Mc-Kenzie-Gibson and Melville also rendered vocal items. During the evening Some musical competitions which were keenly contesed gave great amusement, the prizes being bound books and were won by Mr. Melville and Misses Schroder and Nash. The members of the Philharmonic Society were also present and rendered several well-balanced and nicely modulated part songs. Some excellent solos and recitations were also given. Sjupper was served from Miss Farish's Tea Rooms, and the. singing of "God Save the King closed a very pleasant evening.
