_ WELLINGTON, June 30. AVhen the House met at 2.30 p.m. Mr G. M. Thomson asked the Premier, without notice, whether he would give the House, an opportunity of discussing the Forestry Commission's report brought down in 1912. The Premier replied- that if satisfactory progress Was made with the Government's measures the opportunity in all probability would be given. Eeave- of absence was granted to Messrs Clarke and Dickie, The Civil Service Officers' Guarantee Repeal, Crimes Amendment, and Defamation Bills were introduced by the Hon. A. L. Herdman. The . Immigration Restriction Amendment, and Local Elections and P-01ls v Amendment, and Lo~cal Elections Proportional Representation Bills were introduced by Hon. F. M. B. Fisher. ,• The Factories Act Amendment Bill mas introduced by Mr T. M. Wilford who- detailed its provisions, the main features of which are that where as in. all factories but woollen mills women and boys work only 45 hours per week in woollen- mills they work 48 hours. 1 Wages fere also unequal and these the Bill sought to bring into line. Mr- Wilford also introduced the Hutt Park Bill. The Fruit Preserving Industry Act Amendment and the Magistrate's Court {Consolidating and Amending Bills were introduced by the Governor's message. The last-mentioned Bill consolidates and amenHs enactments relating to the (jurisdiction of magistrates and justices jp'T the pqace.' The House rose at 3.25 p-m. t o enable the Address-in-Reply debate to be taken at 7.30 p.m.
