FARM LABOURERS
4fe. DEPUTATION TO PREMIER. AUCKLAND, Nov 21. . Replying to a deputation -which waited upon him in regard to farm labour, Mr. Mi«sey said that the Government intenoWl to do more in the future than had been done in the past. The High Commissioner had been instructed accordingly. The rapidly increasing liabilities of the country de- • manded an increase in the number ot producers. The Premier added that he intended 1 to look into official repom of the Sec}gH-Jck experiment. lie Vilieved it had been very successful ani\ if it had I been so there was no reason why it should not be repeated. Th& Government already had a so-heme in hand to encourage laborers \n go to the country. He was preyed to meet the needs of country districts by followingup the scheme. If any local body or. organisation of farmers showed that there was room to do so the Gov- , crnment would take over land and pro- - vide for each worker a residence upon a sufficient area of land for profitable occupation. All that would be required would be a guarantee that the interest and sinking fund upon thr outlay would be forthcoming-. He "would like to see the experiment and felt sure it would be successful.
