Vestrymen and Parishioners of Holy Trinity Church, Greymbuth, together with the Churchwardens, Vestrymen and Parishioners of St. Thomas's,' Runanga, and all churchmen in this portion of your Lordship's diocese, .desire to accord to your Lordship the heartiest of hearty West Coast welcomes on this, the first occasion of your visiting- the West Coast. i "Whilst we sincerely deplore the unavoidable retirement of Bishop Mules and trust' that he may long enjoy a well earned rest, we are extreme-; ly thankful that under, the. good'providence of God and the direction of His Holy Spirit, your Lordship was ; elected, ordained and . consecrated. ■ as his successor. , You come -to us -as: a scholar of recognised and undoubted attainments. Your reputation as aP orator" and preacher preceded you, and from our experience we can say it is entirely justified, for we had the pleasure yesterday of hearing for ourselves your earnest and eloquent discourses. You have had practical experience of parochial work in large parishes in Australia, and will thus be able to sympathise with the parochial difficulties of many of your clergy and their people, and to grapple with those larger problems. which confront tin; church as a Whole. - . ' i "We understand that it is your Xordship's intention to revive the ,Bishopdale Theological College, and train young, men for the sacred ministry of Christ's Church. We pry a that in this and in all the departments of your work you may be divinely g-uided a n d controlled, and that the blessing of the .Most High, may rest upon you. ■ i l 'We ask you to convey to your good wife and family our kindest regards and best wishes, and we express the hope that on some future occasion, we may have the .pleasure of welcomingthem to Greymouth."
