The Hon. Mr. Mass.ey, in reply, stat« ' ed that Parliament had yet to asseni to the proposal fo,r a college, though he did-not anticipate any difficulty in that direction. He was conviced that the siiy would have to be on the main line of railway, and easy of access. At present they had four localities in . hand, each possessing individual advantages, Palmrston North, Marton, Wereroa- and Ruakura. At the two latter places the Government had considerable areas of land and the establishment- of a college there, would obviate the expenditure of a large supo. of money in the purchase of a site. Regardihg expenmntal farms, he frankly said that some of them wer not worth carrying on, and he thought jhat several of th Gpvernment farms would have to be dispdsed ofrand*the' < proceeds devoted to the establishment of an agricultural collge. He in-; tended to g"o thoroughly into the whole matter during the recess and would personally visit all the suggested sites.
