Mr. M'lntosh did oiot Know the alderman, but he had cabled the bank in Chicago asking the manager, if he wou?d guarantee him. If the bank was prepared to do that he would • order the transference of the cheque to Alderman Teamey, and thus comply ' with Johnson's wish. "Johnson will come to Australia," concluded Mr. M'lntosh. ,
