The Aborigines Protection Society, in asking- Mr. Flowers to legislate 'to. improve the condition of the aborigines, made starling allegations. A member of Parliament declared, that the blacks camps had drifted into breeding camps for while children. I Many were so white that it would take au expert to tell those nob perfectly white. The native gurls wefe a prey to half-caste youths and low class whites. It was an unusual thing- for one to reach the age of 18 years without having- a child. The one prospect was prostitution for girls and idleness for the boys. The whole mat-' "ct was a grave and disgraceful scandal. Other members of the deputation enaorse dfchis view and urged that the only hope was to remove the children from tha camps. Mr. Flowers promised to give sympathetic consideration to the. matter, which was becoming- a menace to the country.
